Volunteers are needed to help pack care packages to send over seas to our troops.
Honoring Our Troops is holding its semi-annual 'America Cares' Summer 2011 Send A Package To Our troops Drive. The pack and ship date is set for July 30 and will be held at the Veterans Museum, 2115 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101, located next to the Naval Hospital in Balboa Park from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Volunteers are needed this date to help pack the boxes to be shipped.
For this drive, we are sending about 150 packages to a Marine unit from Miramar that is currently deployed in Afghanistan. Also, I know of about 725 Naval men and women from our bases around town that went over on April 1st and would like to send as many packages as I can to those folks. So we are aiming for a very ambitious 900 packages for this drive. Currently, our goal is to raise $60,000 to cover this drive.
