The US Senate decided that Goodwin Liu wasn't good enough for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (by a vote of 52-43), but Governor Brown thought this Berkeley Law professor would make a great CA Supreme Court justice!
Goodwin Liu believes in a living Constitution:
"Fidelity to the Constitution requires judges to ask not how its general principles would have been applied in 1789 or 1868, but rather how those principles should be applied today…in light of the concerns, conditions, and evolving norms of our society."
And he believes in reparations! Hoo-ray!

PS, There is a long list of reasons why Goodwin Liu should not be a CA Supreme Court justice. The worst of all the reasons is because he's not Latino. The president of the Mexican-American Bar Association, "It should have been a Latino and somebody who was native to Southern California...That to me is like the governor turning a cold shoulder to the Latino community in Southern California."
There's a reason that Lady Justice wears a blindfold. The law does not care about the color of your skin.
