So the Dream Act passed the CA Assembly. No surprise here. So now illegal immigrants are eligible for State University grants, U.C. grants and Cal Grants, Board of Governors Fee Waivers, and Institutional Student Aid. In other words, your tax dollars can go to pay for college scholarships for illegal immigrants.
At 8:00 this morning we talked about all of the companies in America that were founded by immigrants and their children. 204 of the Fortune 500 companies were founded by first or second generation immigrants. And 7 of the 9 most recognizable brands around the world were founded by immigrants or their kids: Apple, AT&T, Google, GE, IBM, Marlboro and McDonald's.
CLICK HERE for a great list of all of these great American companies founded by immigrants. You will be surprised, I had no idea. Thank goodness these people started these companies here and not where they were born!
Immigrants have created more jobs than then have "taken".
That being said, how can I still be against the Dream Act? We talked about this at 8:00:

At 6:00 we asked the much more important question.
We tend to have two different discussions in America today; one discussion on the future of the welfare state and then another discussion on immigration. They are the same debate.
The question shouldn't be, "should we use taxpayer money to give college scholarships to illegal immigrants?" The question should be, "should we use taxpayer money to give college scholarships to ANYONE!"
Once you answer "yes" to that last question, then we've opened up the door for the welfare state to grow and this is the logical progression.
