
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 30-year-old cyclist who suffered a head injury after he was struck by an opening car door while riding in North Park earlier this week died early Friday, authorities said.
Justin Newman of San Diego was thrown of his bicycle and struck his head on the ground after after he was hit by the door on University Avenue, west of Kansas Street, about 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
Paramedics took Newman to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of a massive closed head injury at 1:30 a.m. today, the Medical Examiner's Office reported.
