Sergeant accused of fixing tickets for D.A.'s office

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A San Diego police sergeant was on leave Saturday while detectives investigate allegations he fixed traffic tickets for county employees.

Police would not name the suspect.

A local news source reported that the traffic officer is suspected of making tickets issued to employees of the District Attorney's Office go away. Aside from prosecutors, the District Attorney's Office employs sworn investigators who work closely with police.

In November, ex-cop Anthony Arevalos was convicted of soliciting sex from women motorists he stopped over in the Gaslamp District. He faces more than 10 years in prison at his sentencing in February.
