These last two days I've been accused of bashing teachers. I don't get it!

I'm critical of the public school system; a system where 64% of Cal State freshmen need to take remedial classes. This is even more disturbing considering Cal State only accepts kids who graduated in the top third of their high school graduating class.

You can't look at this system and say it works. It's broken. It fails. We can do better.

Stating this fact isn't bashing teachers. I'm supporting teachers! The good teachers anyway. I want you to be unleashed from the chains of a centralized bureaucratic mess. I want you to be empowered to pursue your passion of teaching how ever you want. And I want to get rid of the bad teachers who give your profession a bad name.

This also ties into what we talked about earlier in the week with the question, "What defines the greatness of America?" The left think it's the size of our public institutions. Conservatives think it's the character of her people.

(Here is Tuesday's 6:00 segment on this: http://media.worldnow.com/kfmbam/podcast/the_mike_slater_show_6214.mp3)

This is why liberals will always call for a bigger public school system. To them, a bigger school system means a stronger country. Conservatives are able to look past the intent and look at the results, and 64% of Cal State freshmen needing remedial work are unacceptable results.

Perhaps we're not underinvesting in education. Maybe we're MISinvesting.

So before we throw more money at it, let's find out HOW we're misinvesting.

We laid it all out at 6:00:
