What is your dream car?
Probably this one. I want this one.
You want that dream car, you always have! But when you say you want it, it's in this fantasy world that is completely unconstrained with costs.
In reality land, you actually want your Ford Taurus. You know, so that you can afford to eat food and live in a house.
There's two different levels of want.
The problem is, when people say they "want" universal healthcare, or they "want" affordable housing, they say they want it while operating in their fantasy world. Once we take into account the true costs (monetary, personal and social) of these government programs, we don't want them as much as people say we want them.
