SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police Saturday sought a man suspected of robbing a sandwich shop near Lindbergh Field and then robbing a cab driver of his wallet at gunpoint.

The suspect entered the Subway restaurant at 1025 W. Laurel St. about 9:35 p.m. Friday, displayed a gun and demanded cash from an employee, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford. The suspect left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount, Stafford said.

The suspect then robbed a cab driver of his wallet at gunpoint and took off on foot, but the cabbie chased the robber to a nearby construction site, but lost him, Stafford said.

The suspect was described as a 6 feet-1 black man with a thin build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and had a mask over his face.

No one was injured, Stafford said.
