SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The American Heart Association is partnering with the UCSD Cardiovascular Center for San Diego's first "Go Red Connect" Event.

Saturday's event was open to the public and offered health screenings and CPR demonstrations.

Dozens of survivors came together to share their stories of survival to bring awareness to all women.

"Women experience heart attack and stroke different than men do and they need to be aware of when to come in for help. And so the whole purpose of today is for women to come together and tell their stories," spokeswoman for UCSD Health Sciences, Debra Kain said.

News 8 is proud to partner with the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women campaign.
