SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two men who began fighting before dawn in San Diego Saturday called it quits, only to start again later, and police said one suffered life-threatening stab wounds.
The men, who knew each other, began fighting for unknown reasons about 4 a.m. on 36th Street near University Avenue, said San Diego Police Sgt. Ray Battrick.
The victim, a 28-year-old man whose name was not released, left and went home and the suspect, 27-year-old Aban Abiel, fell asleep in the victim's car.
About 7:30 a.m., the victim left his house and saw Abiel sleeping in his car. They fought a second time and Abiel stabbed the victim in the chest, Battrick said.
The victim suffered a life-threatening puncture wound and was transported to a local hospital where he was in critical condition, he said.
Officers arrested Abiel for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The motive for the original fight was unknown, Battrick said, and detectives were investigating.
