SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 57-year-old Bay Park man who was allegedly shot by his elderly roommate last week has died, San Diego police said Sunday.
Paul Slysh was allegedly shot several times by his 81-year-old roommate Barbara Brand at their trailer park home in the 1500 block of Morena Boulevard Thursday afternoon, according to San Diego police. Brand made an emergency call shortly after 4:30 p.m. to report the shooting, police said.
Brand told officers she had opened fire on her roommate because she was angry at him, police said. However, what led up to the shooting was unclear.
Slysh sustained several gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital where he was initially expected to survive, according to San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney.
Slysh's condition deteriorated and he died about 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Rooney said.
Brand was arrested before the death, and later booked into Las Colinas women's jail for suspicion of attempted murder, according to police and jail records.
The San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and will present the case to the District Attorney's Office, Rooney said.
