LA MESA (CNS/News 8) - A woman employed as a teacher's aide at an East County school for juveniles who have committed crimes was arrested this week on suspicion of having sex with a 15-year-old boy enrolled in the program, authorities revealed Tuesday.
Detectives took 25-year-old Chrystina Delrosario of El Cajon into custody Monday afternoon, according to La Mesa police Capt. Dan Willis.
Delrosario allegedly had sex with the teen in a classroom at her workplace, Reflections Central School, on an afternoon in late June, Willis said. There was no immediate evidence of any other episodes of illegal contact on her part with the San Diego boy or with any other juveniles, the captain said.
"It's shocking, shocking to hear something like that about her," family friend Inia Sapho told News 8. "I don't believe it and in my heart I know she didn't do that."
"She worked too hard to help people for them to say she's trying to harm someone," Sapho added. "It's just the opposite of who she is as a person."
Longtime family friend Teofilo Tuiteleleapaga, whose own children grew up with Delrosario, described her as dedicated, family-oriented and compassionate.
"You're talking about a young lady," he told News 8. "They're basically destroying her life right now."
Reflections Central School, an educational program for certain underage criminal defendants where Delrosario has worked since 2010, is run by the county Office of Education in affiliation with the county Probation Department.
Monique Santos has known Delrosario for more than a decade, and told News 8 it was Chrystina's life-long dream to work with at-risk youth.
"She's done everything she's said she's going to do," Santos said. "(She) graduated college, got married... she's done really good for herself. So I really don't think this is true."
Delrosario was booked into Las Colinas women's detention center in Santee on suspicion of three counts of performing sex acts with a minor, according to Willis. She made bail and was released today, a jail clerk said.
Delrosario remains on unpaid administrative leave from the school while this case is ongoing.
