SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Spring Valley man was shot with a shotgun Sunday when a woman knocked on his front door and two men rushed toward him with the weapon, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

The shooting took place about 3 a.m. on Sacramento Avenue near Saint George Street in Spring Valley, Sheriff's Sgt. Michelle McPhail said.

According to investigators, a woman knocked on the victim's front door. As he opened the door, he saw two men wearing masks running towards them, one of them had a shotgun.

The victim slammed and locked the door as a shotgun round was fired through its glass, McPhail said.

The victim was struck in the right arm and shoulder area with three or four pellets from the shotgun blast. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated on the scene by medics.

The suspects were described as one woman and two men wearing masks. No other descriptions were given. It was unknown if they fled on foot or in a vehicle, McPhail said.
