SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI after he slammed his BMW into five palm trees and a parked car on his way home from a bar in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood, seriously injuring a passenger, police said Friday.

The crash occurred in the 8700 block of Plaza Square at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, San Diego police Officer David Stafford said.

The man lost control of the car while driving eastbound on Spectrum Center Boulevard at Plaza Square as he headed toward his home, located just a half-mile from the bar, Stafford said.

The driver and a female passenger in a rear seat were not injured, but a man in his 30s seated in the front passenger seat had his ankle pinned and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Stafford said.
