SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police Tuesday investigated an apparent gang-related shooting that left a male victim with a gunshot wound to his lower back.
The shooting in the vicinity of Bunnell and Gloria streets was reported at 9:33 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros. The victim was a backseat passenger in a Honda coupe driven by a female motorist and also occupied by another male in the front seat, Delimitros said in a statement.
The trio travelled south on Gloria Street and passed a young man standing with several other males, Delimitros said, adding the young man pulled out a handgun and opened fire toward the car before running away.
Only the backseat passenger was wounded in the shooting, according to Delimitros. The wound was not life-threatening, he said.
Gang detectives were investigating.
