EL CAJON (CNS) - Testimony got under way Monday in a preliminary hearing that will determine whether a man accused of fatally shooting his older brother at the victim's Santee home will be ordered to stand trial.

Joseph Todd Hall, 37, is charged with murder in the January death of 41-year-old Anthony Tesch, who was found shot in the head at his home in the 10000 block of Prospect Avenue around 5:10 a.m. on Jan. 13.

The victim was flown to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 15.

Hall was taken into custody on Riverford Road in Lakeside on the evening of Jan. 15 and is being held at the George Bailey Detention Facility in Otay Mesa in lieu of $2.5 million bail. The motive for the slaying remains unclear, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The preliminary hearing resumes Tuesday.
