San Diego (CBS 8) - San Diego police are investigating a possible sexual assault in the Gaslamp Friday.

A young woman was sexually assaulted around 2:45 a.m. by a cab driver who picked her up in the Gaslamp District from a club.

The woman told police she got in the cab, and during the ride to her home on the 3500 block of Front St. the cab driver reached into the back seat and began rubbing her leg, and eventually she says "pushed his hand into my crotch." The girl yelled at the cab driver to stop, and she leapt out of the taxi and took off running, according to officials.

The woman called 911 from 4th Ave. and Spruce St. where she was able to get away. Police dispatchers say she was hysterical and running home.

Police are still searching for the cab driver.
