SAN DIEGO (AP) - A prison nurse has pleaded guilty to shooting his estranged wife and a co-worker to death after watching them kiss and hug in her San Diego home.
The North County Times says 43-year-old Melchor Marabante pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder. He faces 80 years to life in prison.
Marabante shot to death 23-year-old Valerie Marabante and 26-year-old Bernabe Villamar in February of last year at her apartment in the Sabre Springs neighborhood. His wife had served him with divorce papers three weeks earlier and kicked him out of their apartment.
Both men were both employed as nurses at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Otay Mesa.
