SPRING VALLEY (CNS) - A sheriff's department car that was stopped at a red light was rammed from behind, and the other motorist was in jail Sunday, suspected of drunken driving.
The crash was at 8:47 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Paul Robbins of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
"The deputy with his canine was in a vehicle on Campo Rd. at Jamacha Rd. at a stoplight and a vehicle with a single occupant hit him from the rear," Robbins said. "That vehicle overturned, breaking its axle."
Robbins said the deputy was not seriously injured but complained of pain and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. The police dog was not injured.
CHP officers were called to the scene and arrested the other driver, who was not publicly identified.
