NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - A young man was hospitalized early Monday after being shot in National City, police said.

The shooting in the 300 block of 8th St., near C Avenue, was reported around 11 p.m. Sunday, according to National City police.

The man, who was riding a skateboard, was shot at least once, police said. The extent of his injury was not immediately reported.

Witnesses said they heard gunshots and saw a car speeding away.

The motive was under investigation.
