SAN DIEGO (CNS) - One man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and five people were hospitalized after being injured in a two-car crash on Interstate 8 in the Mission Gorge area early Sunday.
The incident occurred about 1 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 8 west of Fairmount Avenue when a red SUV traveling at least 100 mph slammed into the back of a minivan, causing the van to spin out of control and the SUV to roll several times before coming to rest on its side, according to the CHP.
CHP officers arrested the SUV driver on suspicion of drunken driving before transporting him to the hospital.
Three adults and one child inside the minivan were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The extend of their injuries and their conditions was unknown.
