SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A driver who led police on a long and loud police pursuit is in custody Friday morning.
The chase, which covered about 10 miles, wound its way through several neighborhoods overnight, with sirens blaring. Police say this all happened around 3:30 a.m., after a man ran a stop light and took off Northbound on Park Avenue. The chase went through Hillcrest and North park.
During the pursuit, the driver's right rear tire blew out and he was driving on the rim for about 10 minutes. At moments, the chase reached speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.
At this point, the suspect faces a couple of charges, including felony evading and suspicion of DUI.
