ESCONDIDO (CNS) - Four people were injured -- one critically -- when a vehicle was struck by two others Saturday in an Escondido intersection, police said.

A vehicle driven by a 79-year-old Escondido woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, pulled away from a stop sign at Redwood Street and Felicita Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. and was struck by an eastbound vehicle, police said.

The woman's vehicle was then struck by a westbound vehicle and she was likely ejected, police said.

The woman was taken to Palomar Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The other vehicles' drivers and one passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation. Police asked anyone with information to call Officer Nick Kluka at (760) 839-4728.
