CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) - The Chula Vista Police Department is teaming up with schools in the area to discuss safety in the community.
A forum was held Thursday afternoon at Castle Park Elementary to inform parents and students about personal safety, child safety and neighborhood crime statistics, which have dropped in the past five years.
Free identification kits were also handed out. Police say having fingerprints and current photos on hand is a good idea.
Students also got a chance to meet McGruff the Crime-Fighting Dog.
