Hiring fair at Marine Corps Recruit Depot

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Discharged and retired service members and their families had an opportunity to connect with possible employers Wednesday at a career fair at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department and San Diego police were at the event, and they were looking to hire.

"We're hiring several deputies, 500 in the next four to five years. We have a new facility that we're opening up in Santee," explained Kristin Brayman with the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

"Right now we are motivated to hire several people and putting 30 people for academy," continued Dave Yu with the San Diego Police Department. "We have four academies a year, so about 120 people for the next year."

The fair is held twice a year. At this month's fair, more than 60 local and national employers were on hand, as well as more than 40 colleges and universities.
