JAMUL (CNS) - An autopsy is scheduled Friday on the charred body of a man found inside the trunk of a burned-out car alongside a rural East County road.
The body was discovered after crews extinguished a car fire reported in the 16200 block of Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday, sheriff's Capt. Duncan Fraser said.
Homicide detectives were called to investigate the discovery of the badly burned corpse, the captain told reporters. Bomb-arson investigators also were called in, he said.
The victim was male, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office, which will seek to determine who he was and how he died.
