SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police are on the lookout Friday for two men in connection with a shooting that wounded a 37-year-old man on an Encanto-area street earlier this month.

The victim was walking on the sidewalk of Akins Ave. near 61st St. shortly after 2 a.m. Sept. 6 when two men drove up alongside him, according to San Diego police Officer James Johnson.

One of the occupants got out, pointed a handgun at the man and shot him in both legs, Johnson said. He then got back into a late 1990s beige or tan four-door sedan with a sunroof, possibly a Nissan Altima or Maxima, and sped away, Johnson said.

The wounded man flagged down officers and was taken to a hospital. Johnson said he was recovering from his injuries.

Police described one suspect as a short Hispanic man between 18 and 25 with a thin to medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a dark gray and white plaid long sleeve button-down shirt and dark, baggy pants.

The other was described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 25 with a thin to medium build, with black hair tied back in a short ponytail and a thin mustache. He was wearing a black t-shirt, plaid shorts and had a blue bandana covering a fresh scar or red rash on the left side of his neck.

Anyone with information on the suspects was urged to call detectives at (619) 527-3500 or contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or via email or text message at sdcrimestoppers.com. Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to a felony arrest.
