SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a bouncer trying to disperse a crowd in front of an Ocean Beach nightclub early Sunday, a police officer said.

The victim suffered a non life-threatening stab wound to the abdomen, said San Diego police officer Dino Delimitros.

The stabbing attack in the 5000 block of Newport Avenue, near Bacon Street, was reported to police at 1:06 a.m., Delimitros said.

The suspect was causing a disturbance on the sidewalk in front of a bar, after being ejected from a neighboring bar, he said. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the bouncer trying to disperse a crowd gathered in front of the bar.

The suspect was taken into custody one block north of the stabbing scene, Delimitros said. His name was not released.
