SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Marine Corps Recruit Depot is going green, opening a new ecological water treatment and recycling center.
On Monday, they hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new system, called the Living Machine-R.
The system extracts wastewater from an existing sewer line and treats it to meet California's rigorous water reuse standards.
The treated water will be used for sub-surface irrigation.
