Harlem Globetrotters teach bullying awareness to kids in El Cajon

EL CAJON (CBS 8) - They're known for their shenanigans on the basketball court, but the Harlem Globetrotters say bullying is not funny.

They're in town teaching kids about bullying awareness. Johnson Elementary School in El Cajon hosted two assemblies with the Globetrotters Tuesday morning.

The kids learned the ABCs of bullying as part of the Globetrotters' pilot program aimed at giving children the tools they need to peacefully handle conflicts.

"When you are being bullied, find an adult, find a teacher, find a principal and just walk that way. You stay out of the conflict," Harlem Globetrotter Scooter Christensen said.

The ABCs of Bullying Prevention program came from a partnership with the National Campaign to Stop Violence. The ABCs stand for action, bravery and compassion. Kids are encouraged to take action and look out for one another.
