CARLSBAD (CBS 8) – The search for the killer of a 24-year-old dental assistant, found stabbed to death in Carlsbad, led police to a home in Linda Vista and the arrest of her boyfriend.
The woman, who friends identify as Joanne Javier, was found bleeding from her chest as she sat inside her car outside her place of work in a Carlsbad strip mall.
Carlsbad Police and Fire Department arrived around 4:30p.m. and declared her dead. She had reportedly been stabbed to death.
Police put out an alert asking officers to be on the lookout for Javier's boyfriend, John Carlo Monta.
About six hours later, police had tracked Monta down at his home on Dunlap Street in Linda Vista. Around 10:30p.m. officers entered the apartment building, took him into custody, and removed two young children from the home.
Colleagues that work with Javier at the Carlsbad dental office where she was found dead told News 8 that the couple was having relationship problems. It is unclear if a domestic dispute may have been a motive for the murder.
