CHULA VISTA (CNS) - One person was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving and several others were cited for vehicle code violations at a checkpoint in Chula Vista Saturday.
Traffic stops were conducted on 40 vehicles, police said. Four drivers were evaluated for suspected drunken driving. and one of those drivers was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
A passenger in that vehicle was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant.
A bicyclist was arrested for riding his bicycle under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
One driver was cited and released for possession of marijuana. Another was cited for driving on a suspended license. Fifteen citations were written for various other vehicle code violations.
The DUI Saturation Patrol aims to increase pubic awareness by decreasing the number of drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as well as ensuring drivers have valid driver's licenses.
The Chula Vista Police Department asked the public's continued assistance in reporting drunken drivers by calling 911.
