SOLANA BEACH (CCBS 8) - The staircase at Del Mar Shores in Solana Beach is closed indefinitely.

During a recent inspection of the concrete staircase, workers noticed parts of the structure were severely deteriorated. When a structural engineer examined the staircase, he confirmed there is a high probabliity it could collapse at any time.

The Solana Beach City Council will discuss plans to fix the staircase at a meeting Wednesday.

Beachgoers can still use the Seascape Sur staircase and Fletcher Cove Ramp to get down to the sand.
