'Valitar' show cancelled at Del Mar Fairgrounds

Posted: Updated:

DEL MAR (CBS 8) - "Valitar," a live show featuring horses and acrobatic performers, has been canceled, an official said Tuesday.

The show, which debuted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds earlier this month, was shut down by producers due to poor ticket sales.

Workers and performers tell News 8 they got no notice that the show was shutting down. Producers are now working to pay them for the remainder of their contracts.

"We are in the process of liquidating, so they will be coordinating the assets and then distributing to our vendors as well as our cast members who had agreements with the show," Valitar spokesperson Tamara Hemmerly said.

Crews spent Wednesday dismantling the giant red tent at the fairgrounds.

Refunds are available through Ticketmaster, at (800) 745-3000. Anyone who purchased tickets at the Valitar box office can call (858) 792-4252.
