SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego's neediest residents are being treated to holiday meals Wednesday on the eve of Thanksgiving.
About 90 volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul Village are serving up 3,000 pounds of turkey, 2,000 pounds of mashed potatoes, 2,000 pounds of stuffing and all the other fixings.
Father Joe's Villages says the meal is being served a day early because many other service agencies serve their meals Thursday.
"I just think it's a phenomenal opportunity for people in the city to serve the people who are less fortunate and their neighbors in need," Father Joe's Villages President and CEO Sister Tricia Cruise said.
The 11th annual Father Joe's Villages Thanksgiving Day 5K run and walk fundraiser will take place in Balboa Park Thursday.
