LA MESA (CBS 8) - It's going to be a very happy holiday season for many local children in need, all thanks to the Viejas tribal government.
Viejas tribal firefighters filed into the Target store at Grossmont Center Thursday and bought more than $2,000 worth of bikes and other gifts.
Viejas tribal government workers raised the money to make the shopping spree possible.
"The tribal citizens of Viejas where we're really evolved out of poverty and despair, and now we have an opportunity to bring a smile to a child's face who is in need. And I think that just gives us so much joy," Viejas Indians Chairman Anthony Pico said.
The goal of this year's toy drive is to get 5,000 toys for local families. You can drop off your donation at the Viejas Casino and Outlets.
