SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A man is recovering in a local hospital, after he was hit by a car while texting and walking in the South Bay.
Police say the man wasn't paying attention to an approaching car and walked in front of it Tuesday night on Twining Avenue at Del Sol Boulevard in Otay Mesa.
He went over the hood, hit the windshield and bounced onto the roof and off the side.
"You're not paying attention and you can underestimate a vehicle's speed, because you're concentrating, you're focused on something else instead of the vehicles," explained Sgt. Jim Reschke with the San Diego Police Department.
The man, in his 30s, suffered shoulder and arm injuries and possibly a broken leg.
The car that hit him was going about 25 miles per hour. The 88-year-old driver won't be cited.
