Padres, Armed Services YMCA give back to military families

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Padres teamed up with the Armed Services YMCA Thursday to give back to our local military families.

Padres players, coaches and officials were on hand for the SuperParent Shopping Day at the Armed Services YMCA in Tierrasanta. Hundreds of military families turned out to pick out donated toys and gifts for their children.

Padres Manager Bud Black says he's proud to be part of this event.

"It's great to see the expressions on the kids' faces as they come into these rooms and see the toys and the gifts, and the parents. And for the players and I, and the coaches to go through this… it's a great event," Black said.

SuperParent Shopping Day has been held for the past 25 years.
