SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police were searching Saturday for a man who beat and sexually assaulted a woman working at a San Diego hotel cleaning a recently vacated room.
The attack happened around 1:20 p.m. at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in the 3700 block of Sports Arena Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The suspect fled the scene on foot, at which point the victim was able to call authorities. She was taken to a hospital for examination and treatment, police said.
The suspect was described as a tall and muscular 40- to 45-year-old man with a short Afro-style haircut. He was wearing blue jeans, a white or beige striped shirt and a black baseball cap with a logo. He also speaks some Spanish, police said.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Police are on the hunt for a man who beat and sexually assaulted a housekeeper while she worked at a hotel in the Sports Arena area.
San Diego Police that they are investigating the brutal attack at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, in the 3700 block of Sports Arena Boulevard.
They say a maid was attacked around 1:30 Friday afternoon, while cleaning an empty hotel room.
The man ran off leaving the woman inside the room, where she called for help.
Police are searching for the attacker, who is described as a black male, 40-45 years old, who is tall and muscular, with a short afro-style haircut.
He was wearing blue jeans, a light-colored striped shirt that may have been white or beige, and a black baseball cap with a logo on it.
Investigators say he also speaks some Spanish.
Sex crime detectives and the police crime lab are processing the crime scene looking for clues.
The victim was taken to an area hospital as was still being treated late Friday.
