SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Traffic on the Interstate 8 was backed up for miles after being shut down because of a racing crash.
It happened around 9:45 p.m. Friday in the westbound lanes near College Avenue.
The CHP says two cars were racing at over 100 miles an hour when one of them, a black Nissan, cut off a Kia Sorrento causing it to slam into the center divide.
Two women and a child were inside the Kia and had to be rescued. Their injuries are described as minor.
The racing Nissan also crashed into the center divide further down the freeway but the driver and passengers fled on foot.
The other car that was racing got away.
No word if drugs or alcohol were involved.
