SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A recruit from Marine Corps Recruit Depot is in custody, after jumping a fence at Lindbergh Field and crossing the runway Thursday morning.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m., the control tower reported a man running across the Terminal 1 tarmac. He reportedly tried to hide in a service vehicle.

The person was then located and arrested by Harbor Police and placed in an ambulance and transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

A FedEx pilot was the first to see the person run across the runway and notified the control tower of the sighting, according to Chopper 8 live reports Thursday morning.

During the this time, airport passengers were not in danger and flights were not affected.

The recruit's name has not been released and the incident is still under investigation.
