SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – The California Highway Patrol Friday issued a traffic advisory for state Route 76 after a fatal accident.
A big rig collided with a car on SR 76 just east of Gird Road shortly before 12:30 p.m. According to the CHP, the 19-year-old driver was speeding when she lost control of her Honda sedan and slammed into an oncoming tractor trailer. The victim died at the scene.
Emergency crews are also on the scene of a second big rig crash. This crash happened on Northbound Interstate 15 at Interstate 8. The truck apparently accelerated before attempting to slow down going downhill and overturned, blocking all lanes of traffic.
Ramps were closed on I-15 North between Adams Avenue and I-8. The connector to WB and EB 8 are were closed Friday evening so crews could clear the rig.
