SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A local teen is being recognized Thursday for a labor of love that will save a child's heart.
Jacob Kornfeld, 14, was honored in a ceremony at Rady Children's Hospital Thursday morning. He raised over $17,000 for an Israel-based humanitarian project that provides life-saving heart surgeries to kids in developing countries.
Jacob says he's been inspired to help others, and wants everyone to know they too can make a difference.
"I raised $17,000, and I think that's a pretty good accomplishment that anyone could do, and it's all about how much work you put into it," Jacob said.
Each surgery costs about $10,000.
