Helicopter rescues DUI suspect after cliff crash - San Diego, California Talk Radio Station - 760 KFMB AM - 760kfmb

SANTEE (CBS 8) - A suspected drunk driver is hospitalized after being rescued from the side of a cliff in Santee.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Friday, off Mast Boulevard and the Highway 52.

Authorities say the man was drunk when he drove his car down a 100-foot embankment, before landing in a field below.

Emergency responders launched a helicopter and the man was air-lifted to Sharp Memorial.

He suffered major injuries, but is expected to recover. Police have not confirmed if he will face DUI charges.
