San Diegans react to the news of Dorner's death - San Diego, California Talk Radio Station - 760 KFMB AM - 760kfmb

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - For several days San Diego was front and center in the search for Christopher Dorner putting both police and residents on edge.

There were numerous sightings locally and even an attempted boat jacking in Point Loma.

Wednesday, February 6, Dorner reportedly tied up an 81-year-old man at the Southwestern Yacht Club in Point Loma and tried to steal his boat. Another incident took place on a naval base where someone thought they saw Dorner, but that sighting resulted in a false alarm.

News 8 spoke to people at the yacht club who said they're now breathing a sigh of relief, after hearing news that authorities believed they had Dorner cornered in Big Bear, but still question their safety in the Marina area, where they say it's generally a safe place to live.

"Things are going to change. It will never be the same. People will always have that in the back of their mind and, yeah, security will go up. But it's what's happening in our world right now," said one resident.

Sources tell News 8 that law enforcement in San Diego County will remain on high alert until Christopher Dorner is confirmed dead or in custody.

Several agencies have put special policies in place to keep officers safe from a possible attack by Dorner. In National City, officers only patrolled in pairs this past week and at the border officers checked every car going into Mexico for any sign of Dorner.
