Police seeking driver in accident that injured motorcyclist

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities asked the public Thursday for help in identifying a motorist who caused a Linda Vista-area traffic crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

It happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28, when the driver of a brown or gold four-door sedan made a U-turn into the path of an oncoming motorcycle on Linda Vista Road at Markham Street, according to San Diego police.

To avoid a collision, the 32-year-old rider laid his southbound two-wheeler down on the roadway and was thrown, police said.

He was hospitalized and is still recovering, officials said.

The motorist -- whose vehicle was not struck -- continued driving south on Linda Vista without stopping.

A witness told investigators the car appeared to be a 2000 to 2004 Toyota Camry, Lexus ES or similar sedan.

Anyone with information about the crash -- legally classified as a hit-and-run, even though no actual collision occurred -- was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
