SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Crews are working to replace an 85-year-old water main that burst and flooded a neighborhood in Webster.
It happened around 4 a.m. Friday along the 4900 block of Federal Boulevard. It was left flowing for nearly four hours until crews finally shut it off.
Residents had to hustle to move their pariked cars out of the flood's path.
"My next door neighbor, she came banging on the door and says you better move your cars because the water is getting higher. The water had got up, I'm sweeping it, the debris off, the water was up past the tires," resident Fred Hawkins said.
Several dozens were without water as of early Friday afternoon. Crews expect to restore service by 8 p.m.
The cause of the water main break is said to be corrosion.
