GRANT HILL (CNS/CBS 8) - Police Sunday were seeking a man suspected of shooting his girlfriend's cousin in an apartment complex at 25th and J streets.
The incident occurred at 6:47 a.m., said San Diego Police officer Dan Lasher.
Police say 21-year-old Christian Jose Dominguez shot his girlfriend's cousin several times in the chest. The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.
"A woman had been involved in a domestic violence situation with her ex-boyfriend on Saturday and had called her relative to help stay with her and protect her," Lasher said. "The suspect returned and the relative chased him off through the night."
This incident reportedly happened in front of the couples toddler.
Police say Dominguez and his girlfriend were having problems. She called police Saturday saying Dominguez attacked her.
When police arrived the suspect was gone, so a cousin stayed with her for protection. When Dominguez returned, he found his girlfriend's cousin in the home, shot him, then fled again.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black cap and hoodie, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He left the scene in a red 2-door Mitsubishi Eclipse.
