NESTOR (CBS 8) - A truck bursts into flames in a driveway in Nestor and almost spreads to the owner's home.
A News 8 camera crew was on the scene as crews put out the flames just before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday in the driveway of a home on Signal Avenue.
The truck's owner says he was in bed when the fire started.
"I heard an explosion and when I looked out the window I saw my truck was on fire," said Charlie Niergarth. "I just grabbed a hose, went up to the roof and I think that's what saved the house from burning down I guess."
Investigators are working to determine the exact cause.
One fire official says that a recall was issued for this same model of truck, a 2000 Ford F-250, after concerns that a malfunction in the cruise control system could spark fires under the hood.
Damage is estimated at $13,000.
