VISTA (CBS 8) - Deputies are searching for an armed suspect after a person was shot in the head at a Vista apartment complex overnight.
The incident took place in the 2100 block of University Drive at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pepperwood Apartments. News 8 reports that the victim was shot in the head and taken to Palomar Medical Center with life threatening injuries and as of this report is listed in serious condition.
After reports of the shooting, the area was shut down while homicide detectives began their investigation. During that time residents were not allowed to enter the complex and those leaving were escorted from the area as a safety precaution.
